Etroplus maculatus

ik post dit berichtje hier, aangezien dit over andere andere vissoorten gaat en hier best wel wat mensen zitten die verstand hebben van brak water.

dus mijn vraag;

is het mogelijk om Etroplus maculatus te kweken in een 60x30x30 bak? moet ik met 3 jonge exemplaren beginnen en welke temp. en zoutgehalte?

Hoe is je engels? 2VWO... moet kunnen:

In paartjes houden dat is het devies, denk dat je 1 paartje kunt houden in jouw bak. Maar het is eigenlijk te klein.... Je komt aardig wat liters tekort. 20-25 graden. Hier twee stukjes over deze prachtige vissen (mits goed gehouden). Minimaal op 1.005 houden voor het beste resultaat.

1. Orange Chromides - Etroplus maculatus is a small, inoffensive cichlid that grows to around 6-10cm. It is not a shoaling fish technically, but enjoys being in a pair, and is very tolerant of others of it's species outside that 'pair'. A 125L is the minimum for keeping a small group of 4 or 5 of these. In the wild they act as a 'cleaner fish', eating parasites and dead skin off larger fish (including the closely related Green Chromide), in addition to it's diet of aquatic invertebrates and most other foods that come it's way, being a very opportunistic species. For this very reason, they make good additions to the fish tank - they accept commercial foods, are peaceful, are colourful, are small and show the interesting behaviour characteristic of cichlids. They like an SG of between 1.005 to 1.015. They can be mixed with most other brackish species, including their larger relative the Green Chromide, and also small fish such as guppies, mollies and small gobies. The pictures shown below do not do the Orange Chromide much justice as the ones below are most likely newly imported specimens - when kept in the right conditions such as in brackish aquaria, they will quickly colour up into a stunning bright orange.

2. Two cichlids from South Asia, the orange chromide Etroplus maculatus and the green chromide Etroplus suratensis, are almost entirely brackish water fish in the wild and must be kept in a brackish water aquarium to do well in captivity. Both species make excellent community fish. They are gregarious fish outside of breeding, but when breeding become territorial, with stable pairs defending their eggs and fry. Orange chromides may be kept singly, in matched pairs, or as groups; green chromides are somewhat more nervous despite their larger size and best kept in groups of six or more individuals. Neither species is particularly aggressive by cichlid standards.

The orange chromide only gets to about 8 cm in length, and mixes well with knight gobies and other medium-sized fish; the green chromide gets to about 30 cm in captivity (40 cm in the wild) and so mixes well with scats, monos, and archerfish. It is a schooling herbivore and should be kept as a group and offered a diet rich in greens, particularly algae.

Bedankt! Mijn engels is wel redelijk, lang leve engelse progamma's als discovery!

Hoe zie ik verschil in geslacht? Mijn idee is dat ik moeilijk aan volwassen vissen kom en als ik met 3begin kan zich daar wel een koppeltje uit vormen,ik las ergens iets over een rode stip in de ogen van de man?

Ook ga ik er vanuit dat ze in de winkel op zoet water zitten, hoe wen je ze over?

Ik wil zout van SERA gaan gebruiken, het wordt dan mijn eerste boutrakwater (kweek)bak!

Geslachtsbepaling bij Etroplus is denkelijk wat lastiger dan bij diverse andere cichliden. Zowel de dame als heer zijn hetzelfde van kleur.... Dus, de goede oude tijd komt weer bij me boven nu: vinnen staren! Mannetje heeft over het algemeen vinnen met punten, vrouwtje meer afgerond. Google even wat afbeeldingen, dan zie je het hopelijk zelf ook. Goed turen naar die vinnen, moet lukken.

Om het even hoe je ze op 1.005 krijgt, als ze er maar komen op den duur. Hetzij je bak van zoet naar brak, hetzij de vissen via druppelmethode overwennen naar je ingedraaide brakke bak. Zou ze echt wel meteen in de "grote" bak loslaten en niet in kleine bakjes huisvesten.

Bodem is 60X30 toch? 2cm lijkt me okee. Dus je heb ongeveer 4 a 5 liter zand nodig. Wat is het soortelijk gewicht van zand? Geen idee. Dus hoeveel kilo je nodig hebt blijft de vraag.... Maar zo kom je er ook.

alleen, ik heb niet 2 lege bakken en ik mag een 90L vijvertje in de tuin dus nog een bak zal er niet komen...

dan een mooi soort voor in de toekomst denk ik, helaas...

Huh? Twee lege bakken heb je toch niet nodig? 1 bak is voldoende, en die had je toch (60X30X30)?
Of heb ik het nu weer helemaal verkeerd begrepen?

oh, haha, verkeerd begrepen.

maar kun je vissen overwennen in 2uur van zoet naar 1.005, het schijnen al ZEER gevoelige visjes te zijn (vooral stress)

Goeie vraag. Denk dat dat wel lukt. Ik zou het durven. Des te eerder ze in de juiste bak zitten, des te beter.
Begin anders gewoon zoet en verhoog wekelijks met .001 ofzo.
Een theelepel gaat je niet redden. De eerste keer moet je 3,5 gram zout per liter toevoegen. Das dus 54 maal 3,5 is eh..... 189 gram zout in totaal.....

Ik zou het aqua brak inlaten draaien op 1,005 ofzo.
Simpel je gaat ze toch op brakwater houden.

Alle soorten aquarium zeezout zijn geschikt voor brakwater.

Overwennen van vissen is altijd belangrijk, 2 uur moet volgens mij wel volstaan.

Op aquavisie staat ook een heel stuk over deze vissen.
