Op deze site staan meestal de meest nieuwe onderzoeken. Vaak met links. Zoals je ziet is bij de turgidus nog niet erg veel onderzocht. Zal als ik tijd heb eens even naar andere bronnen kijken. Wel leuk topic Jinne! Erg interesant om weer eens een gelvjs onder de loep te nemen met zijn allen!

Abstract
The toxicity of two species of wild Cambodian freshwater pufferfish of the genus Tetraodon, T. turgidus and Tetraodon sp., was investigated. Tetraodon sp. was non-toxic. The toxicity of T. turgidus was localized mainly in the skin and ovary. Paralytic shellfish toxins (PSTs), comprising saxitoxin (STX) and decarbamoylsaxitoxin (dcSTX), account for approximately 85% of the total toxicity. Artificially reared specimens of the same species were non-toxic. When PST (dcSTX, 50 MU/individual) was administered intramuscularly into cultured specimens, toxins were transferred via the blood from the muscle into other body tissues, especially the skin. The majority (92.8%) of the toxin remaining in the body accumulated in the skin within 48h. When the same dosage of tetrodotoxin (TTX) was similarly administered, all specimens died within 3-4h, suggesting that this species is not resistant to TTX. Toxin analysis in the dead specimens revealed that more than half of the administered TTX remained in the muscle and a small amount was transferred into the skin. The presence of both toxic and non-toxic wild specimens in the same species indicates that PSTs of T. turgidus are derived from an exogenous origin, and are selectively transferred via the blood into the skin, where the toxins accumulate.

Mooie informatie. Jammer dat ze alleen over het gif echte onderzoeken doen. Dat maakt een kogelvis natuurlijk wel speciaal maar natuurlijk gedrag zou ook vet zijn om daar meer over te weten.

Je school is inderdaad wel een goeie optie. Ben reuze benieuwd.

Ja ik kom zo inderdaad alleen op onderzoeken terecht over de toxiciteit en niet over het gedrag. Ja zo gauw ik meer vind zal ik het laten weten!

Ja dat wat je zegt met glas zou misschien wel de beste optie zijn. Ja ik vind het ook harstikke sneu. Ik stond er zelfs op dat ik een kogeltje zou redden en toen kwam smaug op marktplaats!! Ik kijk regelmatig op marktplaats en vind dat dan altijd zo sneu he

Ik heb ook besloten dat ik na Cupcake alleen nog maar afstandskogeltjes neem. Ik kan het niet meer tegenover mezelf verantwoorden om ze uit de lokale aquariumwinkel te halen.

Dat is een goede keus! Ik vind het ook moeilijk want in de winkel zijn ze altijd zo schattig haha. Niet dat ik ooit een turgidus in de winkel heb gezien

Het vervelende met conclusies trekken is dat het je geen zekerheid geeft. Het zou ook kunnen dat ze in paren of in harems leven. We weten het gewoonweg niet helaas.

We blijven zoeken. En anders zelf naar verweggiestan met zn allen om onderzoek te doen?
